Thirsties {Cloth Diaper Review and Upcoming Giveaway!}

Recently I reviewed the Duo Diaper from Thirsties and I have to say, this is my absolute favorite pattern for a cloth diaper! It's so cute and I think would be great for either a boy or a girl.

I'm still learning the ins and outs of cloth diapering so I'm glad that with our Thirsties diaper came a very helpful Care and Use Paper.

I did some checking before choosing our diaper and found out there are two options for ways to secure the diaper: either the Aplix or Snaps design. The Aplix design is nice for newborns because it's a quick Velcro closure and the Snaps are nice for older children who may be tempted to remove their diaper.

Snaps design for adjustable fit

Additionally, the Snaps design gives you a little more flexibility in fit on your child. I went with the Snaps for that reason since I am currently using this on our youngest (age 41 months) for naptime, but I think it would be great to try the Aplix once our new baby arrives.

Dual side snaps ensure secure fit to prevent leakage

The Duo Diapers are very user friendly in that you can use them much like you would a disposable diaper since they are easy on, easy off. They also have an opening inside at both ends for the inserts so there is no need to remove the inserts before washing. Simply toss them in the washing machine and they will come out on their own.

The Duo Diaper is available in two sizes which is sufficient for your baby from birth to potty training. Size 1 fits infants between 6-18 lbs (generally 0-9 months) and size 2 fits children between 18-40 lbs (generally 9-36 months).

The diapers are free of VOC’s, PVC, phthalates, lead, and latex. Additionally, the diapers are made with USA-sourced components for several reasons. Thirsties believes that by doing this they accomplish several goals:  it reduces their carbon footprint, it helps support domestic textile mills and their local economy, and it ensures that Thirsties diapers will be durable.

The diapers are made in the USA by a group of amazing women who work from home and each diaper meets the following description:

An absorbent insert and waterproof sleeve diaper
Seven absorbent layers
Microfleece liner for wetness protection and stain resistance
Easy stuffing with dual insert openings and one-step cleaning
Pliable, breathable ultra-comfortable waterproof exterior

Leg gussets for advanced leak protection

Additional Information

In addition to carrying cloth diapers, Thirsties also offers several diaper accessories such as wipes, doublers (for heavy wetters or night-time use), diaper ointment and more.

As for care, I wash mine and then toss them in the dryer along with the other clothes in that load. It is recommended that you dry them on low and when I use my wool dryer balls I can easily get all of my load dried on the low setting while maintaining the durability of the clothes.

My one suggestion would be to add a larger selection of prints. The few that are available are super cute, but I would love to see a few more.

I have the aplix version of this diaper in size 1 and I wish I would have gotten the snaps instead. The aplix is wearing out really fast. I do like the diaper though.

We have some of Thirsties old Fab Fitted that we love! They were really good when little guy was in the hospital for his ostomy reversal!

Love their new prints!

I tried a couple of brands of diapers and was disappointed because I had a hard time fastening them. They just needed to stretch a little more. Then I tried honest diapers and I LOVE THEM! They are very absorbent and they stretch with your baby's every move. You won't find a diaper out there that won't leak at some point. After all, they can only hold so much.
