About The World's Greatest Stories
Actor George W. Sarris is a dramatic storyteller who help his listeners relive the stories from God's Word word for word. These narrations, intended for ages 4 and up, are also embellished with thoughtfully chosen music and sound effects to make the story more engaging. (Not that a story like Daniel and the Lion's Den can't stand on its own...the added effects just make it more interesting if you're listening to the story be read to you.)

What We Thought About It
Of the various volumes, our family reviewed The Prophets Volume 1. It covers the following stories from the Bible:
The Blazing Furnace

The Handwriting on the Wall

Daniel in the Lion's Den

Elijah and the Prophets of Baal

The Prophecy of Jonah
The stories may be ordered in either cassette tape or Compact Disc in either KJV or NIV and each volume retails for only $7.95.

I love that this company is trying to help God's Word take root in the lives of it's listeners. I want our children to know God's Word well and to realize that the stories they hear actually happened. It helps to have the stories told by a dramatic narrator because it allows the story to come alive.

That being said, I think the particular one we reviewed wasn't a great fit for our family. Our oldest son really enjoyed listening to it, but my 4 year old daughter was actually scared by a portion of the reading. Portions of The Prophets were a little too dramatic for my taste.
However, I wonder if we might have enjoyed a different set of stories better, such as the ones on the Life of Christ
The Heartbeat Behind the Company

If you can believe, this, Mr. Harris has actually memorized the script (and it's about 1 hour long!) I appreciate the time and effort that has gone into a ministry like this (and I say ministry because they have intentionally kept the cost of the CD's down in order that they might bless others).
What Others are Saying
Perhaps you'd like to swing by here to see what other TOS members thought and read what their experience was like with The Prophets or the other Volumes. If you have any questions for this company, please feel free to contact George Sarris at The World's Greatest Stories. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you.
