Yummy Trail Mix Recipe

My kids love to snack, as all kids do. However, over the last year or so, I've tried to make sure those snacks were actually good for them. Recently, a little trail mix type snack I came up with has been a BIG hit with our family.

Prior to making the trail mix, the kids weren't that interested in eating the raw sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds I was offering. But combine all these ingredients together and they are happy to gobble everything up.

There aren't any exact measurements to this. You can just put however much you like of each ingredient into a bowl.

Combine the following:

  • organic raisins (choose organic if you can because grapes are one of the heaviest sprayed fruits when they are not grown locally. For me, even though I'm in the Midwest, I consider California local when it comes to grapes.)
  • Craisins (unsweetened dried cranberries are even better)
  • raw shelled pumpkin seeds (these are loaded with Iron and have some vitamin A and Calcium as well)
  • mini chocolate chips
  • raw sunflower seeds (contain Iron and Calcium)
The kids and I love this as our mid-morning or afternoon go-to snack. That, and the dehydrated pears!

What are your favorite healthy snacks?

This sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing! I made these healthy oatmeal, date, and banana "cookies" a few days ago and shared how on my blog.
