4 Tips for Dealing with Stress and Why Tomorrow is a Big Day for Us

The fact that I am sharing my 4 Tips for Dealing with Stress might clue you in on the fact that maybe, just maybe, I am facing some stress of my own?

That is why these 4 Tips keep rummaging around in my brain and why I am trying to put them in practice. I know I'm not alone when it comes to craziness in life so I hope these 4 tips will help you, too.

Tip #1 Write it down

I have so much going on right now I feel like I am spinning like a top...In other words, my brain is frantically trying to keep up and figure out what to do next, but I feel like I'm not getting anything done!

That is a frustrating feeling by the way...

So, yesterday I decided the best thing to do was to not just write down WHAT needed to get done, but to section it off by days. That way, when I'm tempted to run ahead and get a big task done that's weighing on me, I can stick to my notes and accomplish what is important for that day and then tackle the next day...the next day.

Keeping myself on track like this is proving to be a sanity saver because I know I am actually getting things done and I'm getting them done in the order of when they need to be completed.

Tip #2 Listen to peaceful, God-centered music

My absolute favorite music of choice when I am feeling overwhelmed and stretched is the Hidden in My Heart Lullabies.

These are not your typical lullabies. In fact, I'd classify them as worship music because I can't tell you how many times I have listened to them that my soul has been calmed and I can praise God right in the midst of the chaos. You can listen to a sample here.

You need these in your life.

Tip #3 Pray along the way

Don't forget Who your strength comes from. His strength shines better in our weakness when we come to Him for help. I'd also add, don't neglect time in the Word. Sometimes we think we don't have time to read, but you'd be surprised how God miraculously multiplies our time when we surrender it to Him.

Tip #4 Choose the people in your life over the problems

I know how easy it is to become impatient with my children and husband when I am stressed. Always remember to choose the people over the problems.

Most likely, the problem will be gone before the day is over, but your sweet family members will still be there and you don't want to leave them reeling in the aftermath of your stress and anger. (Sadly, I have been guilty of this.)

I hope these tips help you keep your sanity when life can make you feel like you just can't keep up!

Also, as I said in the email subject line, tomorrow is a big day for us.

I went back and forth as to whether or not I wanted to share this publicly, but in the end I decided I would for two reasons.

1. I really do need prayer for strength and that I would trust God.

2. I know what a tremendous help and encouragement it has been to read other moms' stories of success for their children. That being said, I want our story to give you courage to pursue this if you need to.

Tomorrow, Lord-willing, we are starting our 4 year old with Oral Immunotherapy

for his severe peanut allergy. He has been allergic to peanuts all of his life and, considering this is a life-threatening allergy, we are so thankful to have the opportunity to pursue OIT.

Mind you, this will not be easy for him or us.

I know in my head this is right thing to do, but my Momma's heart just wants to cry and run away from this problem. But I can't. I have to be strong for my child and Lord-willing, he will complete this program. The success stories of other children with severe peanut allergy is an incredible blessing and encouragement to me. Here is one.

So, tomorrow, we will be spending 8 hours with him (and our 9 month old baby) at the allergy doctor's starting his first treatment. Would you pray that he would do fabulously and that God would give me strength to help him through this day? I am so thankful for your prayers about this!
