Awaken Love Marriage Devotional

**Giveaway over

On the heals of my 31 Days to a Stronger Marriage series, I was contacted by Flyby Promotions to see if I was interested in doing a review of a newly released couple's devotional by Kyle and DesiRae Idleman called Awaken Love: A Couple's Devotional Journey to Awaken Love in Their Marriage.

After wrapping up my devotional marriage series, I figured it might be a good idea for my husband and I to review this devotional together. I want to make it a daily habit to work on my marriage and make it as great as it can be. Doing a devotional together seemed like a good step in that direction.

My husband's a pretty easy going guy so I knew I wouldn't have to convince him to do the book with me, and since we don't do devotions together, it was a new opportunity for us.

And I have to say, it was really great to connect with my husband on this level.

I think anything that can help my husband and me to connect, especially in a way that honors the Author of our marriage, is a good thing. In the end, we both really enjoyed the devotional and felt that it made us stop and think about things that we wouldn't otherwise. I loved this time with my husband and am thankful we had the opportunity to review this book together.

Awaken Love: A Couple's Devotional Journey to Awaken Love in their Marriage is a 6-week long book for couples intended to accompany the movie The Song. While we have not seen The Song, I do know it is a modern day take on the biblical book, Song of Solomon. It is not necessary to see the movie before doing the devotional. :)

In Awaken Love, Kyle uses stories, personal testimony and Scripture to help couples start talking about their relationship with each other and with God. He uses a teaching style throughout the book as he explores 6 key areas in marriage: Deepening Desire, Increasing Intimacy, Fighting Fair, Rediscovering Romance, Cultivating Commitment, and Fostering Faith.

This devotional can be helpful to any couple no matter how long they've been married. You can find more resources on The Song's webpage.

About the author:

Kyle Idleman is the Teaching Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentrucky. He has also written, not a fan. and is a regular conference speaker around the world. He and his wife, DesiRae, have four children.
