Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus DVD Available TODAY {Review and Giveaway!}

What the DVD is About

I tend to be very selective about the products I review on my website because I want them to be beneficial to both my readers and my family. I decided to accept the opportunity to review the recently released Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus DVD after my husband and I watched the trailer for it because we decided it was an excellent affirmation of our belief in the historical accuracy of the Bible.

The DVD came about after Christian filmmaker, Timothy Mahoney, decided to face head on the controversy about whether or not the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt really occurred. Ultimately, though, it was his own crisis of faith that led him on this astounding journey of discovery.

What Mahoney initially discovered shook his faith a bit more, but after continued research and interviews with historians and archeologists, he was able to confidently affirm that the biblical account of the Exodus really did take place.

I Already Believe the Bible is Accurate So Why Would I Want to Watch This?

Don't get me wrong. I wasn't looking for proof that the Bible is true and accurate because I believe it is. But if we're honest with ourselves, there are times when doubt creeps in and you find yourself asking how certain historical events mentioned in Scripture could have really taken place.

While I do believe that the Bible doesn't need anything or anyone to confirm it's accuracy, it is refreshing and encouraging to find historical facts that support it.

I also care about those who are still on the fence about Christianity and perhaps this DVD will give you a greater understanding of the Christian faith. As someone who is empathetic and often takes the concerns of others into account, I like that this documentary presents not only the nay-sayers point of view about the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, but also gives historical and archeological support for this huge event in history.

What is the Documentary Like?

What I liked best about this documentary is that it wasn't all one-sided in its presentation. When you are presenting information on a topic this grand I think it's important that you do your research well and don't limit your presentation only to the facts that best suit your agenda. This documentary does an excellent job presenting interviews from various archeologists and historians who represent both points of view. Take a couple of minutes to watch the trailer below so you can get a taste for this film.

The documentary was twelve years in the making and provides beautiful footage of archeological sites and places in Egypt as well as detailed interviews from both sides of the discussion. Mahoney did an excellent and thorough job of chronicling his in-depth archeological investigation while at the same time comparing his notes to the biblical account of the Exodus.

I really enjoyed this DVD and the factual presentation of information. Definitely worth seeing!

What Others Are Saying

Answers in Genesis says this about Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus: [it] unlocks the mystery and reveals evidence that matches and confirms the biblical account. If you have heard that there is no evidence for the Exodus, or for Joseph and the Hebrews in Egypt, prepare for a whole new view of history!

Ages 12-Adult (although we watched it with all of our children and the older three ages 5, 7 and 10 all really enjoyed it!). The DVD is 119 minutes long and sells for $19.99
