This past summer I was at the theater watching Beyond the Mask (You can read my review of it here) when I saw the preview for Faith of our Fathers. The preview looked incredible so when #flyby promotions asked me if I would consider doing a review I was happy to say yes.
Faith of our Fathers is a faith-based movie that follows the story of two young men who become friends while serving their country during the Vietnam War but it also weaves the story of their sons, 25 years later, as they search to find out more about the dads they never knew.
This movie is a drama but it also has some action in it which may make it appeal to both men and women. Because of the brief war scenes, it does have a PG-13 rating so you will want to use some discernment before letting your children watch it.
When I watched the preview of Faith of our Fathers at the theater, I couldn't wait to watch it (which is why I said yes to doing a review.) I assumed it would be a very serious movie and yet, while there are serious parts, there is quite a bit of humor and drama as well. That's not terrible and maybe it was just because one of the main actors, David White, was a little over the top in this film. Granted, I'm a tough movie critic (you can ask my husband) but I just felt that several of the scenes didn't flow well into the next one and that some of the scenes were completely unrealistic (I'll let you figure out which ones those are.)
So, while I completely want to support Christian films, I have to be honest and say that overall, I was a little disappointed in the movie. I felt that some of the "humorous" scenes weren't all that humorous and were actually a bit overdone making it not very funny. There were scenes that I enjoyed, but unfortunately this movie isn't going to make my favorite's list. Bummer, because I was really looking forward to owning this movie.
But, you don't have to take my word for it, you can check the movie out yourself ($7.95 on Amazon Prime) or enter the Rafflecopter form below for a chance to win a DVD of Faith Of Our Fathers. (USA and Canada Only)
Maybe you'll totally love the movie and I hope you do! If nothing else, at least you can sit down and watch a movie without cursing or bedroom scenes so it's not a total waste. ;)
