What is Rooted Childhood?
Rooted Childhood is a carefully thought out monthly collection that is seasonally inspired. It includes various handcrafts, recipes, stories, and book suggestions. Our family has taken advantage of a subscription to Rooted Childhood for several months now and I always look forward to the ideas and inspiration I receive in each collection. What I love best about these collections is that all of the ground work is laid for me to help develop a seasonally rich atmosphere in our home.
Meghann, the creator and founder of Rooted Childhood, has carefully curated the crafts included in each monthly edition to be seasonally supportive. I find them to be on varying levels (none of which are too hard and that's coming from a non-crafty person). She includes beautiful pictures, step by step instructions (including video tutorials) and tries to keep the costs down by not using anything too unusual. It's easier for me to turn to a monthly collection like this rather than Pinterest for several reasons. For starters, I know that the crafts and recipes are all tried and true. I also appreciate that everything that is pulled together is with a theme in mind. This saves me a lot of time and trial and error.
My children have loved the various projects that we've worked on and several will be keepsakes for years to come. For me personally, I've loved that the recipes are easy, healthy and delicious. (My all time favorite so far is the Date Caramel Apple Dip. It was AMAZING--and I don't even like dates!) I think I'll be taking advantage of that recipe quite a bit in the last month of pregnancy as I prepare for labor. 😉
Who is Rooted Childhood For?
Rooted Childhood is geared towards a wide range of ages. Personally, I've used it with my five children, ages 2-13 in varying degrees. Obviously, the two year old is more along for the food as is my 13 year old boy. 😉 My middles have enjoyed the books suggestions, crafts and food and I would say my 11 year old daughter has loved all of it but especially the crafts the most. Truly, Rooted Childhood has been such a great addition to our homeschool! Honestly, though, whether you homeschool or not, I think you will find the collection endearing. I love that it helps me to spend quality time with my kids and usually without too much effort. They thrive on these types of activities and time together so I feel that it has been such a great fit for us. I personally don't feel led to complete every single handcraft or read every story that's included so I just pick and choose the ones that best fit our style and budget.
