On-line Learning Program Review: abcmouse.com

Wow! I am so glad I had the opportunity to review abcmouse.com, a new on-line learning resource. I am extremely impressed with this program! I have had the opportunity to review at least 3 on-line learning programs and I love this one because it is so perfectly geared towards the ages of my children.

This amazing website is specifically designed for children ages 2-6 and offers lessons in reading, math, the world around us, MUSIC! (loved this section---one of it's features is a virtual keyboard that the child can click on and it plays that note), library, puzzles, games and art. It also has printables and has a total of over 2,000 learning activities. "Each subject is taught through books, games, songs, puzzles, art and printables that will keep children engaged and motivated while learning!" (taken from abcmouse.com)

(how is it possible that this little pumpkin is growing up so quickly???)

From a parents' perspective, I found the site very easy to maneuver (it'd have to be for a preschooler to use it right?!). It is visually appealing, has pleasant music and very cute graphics!

From an educator's point of view (I'm a former preschool and 1st grade teacher and a current homeschooling mom) I think it's important to note that language, for example, "can be learned a multitude of ways, like casual conversation, songs, rhymes, reading, music, story telling and much more. Early stimulation sets the stage for how children will learn and interact with others throughout life. If a child receives little stimulation early on, the synapses will not develop, and the brain will make fewer connections." (taken from The University of Maine)

This on-line program can help set a great learning foundation for your child. Although nothing can replace personal interaction with my children, I do like that they can spend some time on the computer developing computer skills along with gaining many other learning advantages. I'd rather have my child spend an hour on abcmouse.com than an hour watching television any day!

 Here's my cute little man--I can't believe he's almost 6!

Also, I love that each child has their own customizable avatar which is located on the side of the screen. Each child's avatar is visible at all times (once logged in) which makes it much easier to switch sessions between children rather than having to invividually type a log in (which can be time consuming for a busy mom--this is from personal experience!)

Another great feature is that there are no pop-up ads, no advertising and no external links. I feel great knowing that my child cannot click on other links outside of this program once we are logged in.

Interested in giving it a try? Well, I thought you'd like to know that for a limited time you can get abcmouse.com for $79 for a one year membership plus 2 additional months free. AND, you get up to 3 children for the price of one! That works out to $5.64 per month for 1-3 children!

If you want to check out some of their free samples go here.

Honestly, this one is by far my favorite on-line learning program that I have come across. I'm so glad I got a chance to check it out!

**I was not paid to write this post. The opinions expressed are my own. I wrote this post as a "thank you" for letting me try the program.

I use this program with my 18 month old. He is now a whiz with the mouse! The coloring pages are a little difficult for him but he loves the songs and books. I highly recommend.

I am a bit behind, but before abcmouse.com came out I was one of their "test dummies" and would go through pages and answer questions about their site. Both of my kids, 3 and 6 love to "play" on their site.
