I'm so happy I discovered the Organic Children's Tea from Opas Soap. It is a mild, vitamin-filled tea that is safe for children ages 2 and up. I think it is a great addition to our Green Resolutions Blog Hop since I want to focus on living green on the inside too.
Opas Soap is a wonderful little etsy shop that carries teas, as well as natural body care products. Mercedes and her husband run this business and live part of the year in the States and part of the year in Salzburg, since her husband is from Austria.
Where Is It From?
The Children's Tea is hand-harvested from a farm two villages over from their village in Salzburg. It has organic-bio certification in Austria. Additionally, Mercedes and her husband personally know the farmer who runs the multi-generational farm.
The teas are grown and harvested in Austria rather than the U.S. due to contamination, quality and GMO concerns in the States. Because of this, Children's Tea is GMO-free. (GMO is not allowed in Austria. Awesome!)
What's In It?
The Children's Tea is an herbal blend of Melissa, Verbena, Nettle, Calendula, and Gold Melissa. The tea can have a soothing and comforting effect on children. The leaves are kept as whole as possible allowing the flavor to be full and the smell to be wonderful. Every time I make a batch, I linger over it just a minute to breath in the smell of it.
To make the tea, simply steep 1 T. of tea in 8 oz of hot water. Let it steep for 6 minutes. (as you can see, I had to be a bit creative with my steeping and my straining. Apparently I need to get some tea accessories!)
I even immediately reuse the tea and make a second cup. It's not as strong, but tastes just fine! Although my daughter didn't care for the tea, my oldest son LOVES it with a little raw honey. In fact, one night I asked him if he wanted some tea and he asked excitedly if it was "that one kind". I too, think it's really nice.
My son (with his bed-head!) enjoying some Children's Tea in a cute little German mug that's just his size!

This tea sounds great. I am a big herbal tea drinker, but my step daughter usually doesn't like the tea that I buy. Maybe this will be a better choice for her.
This sounds great! We love herbal teas. My 23-month old and 3 1/2 year old drink them too!
this looks great! We are tea drinkers here. :)
I love drinking tea and my son always wants to try mine. I'm glad to know that there is a brand that makes tea specially for kids. I think he will really enjoy trying this.
My kids love tea! They always want mine! This would be perfect for them!
