Magnolia Organics Review

You may or may not know that I am in the process of switching our bedding over to organic materials as much as I am able to do so.

After learning about all of the chemicals that are in mattresses, pillows and  sheets, it became apparent to me that this is an area of our home that should be switched over to organic. I know that realistically I will not be able to replace all of these products at once, but the more changes that I can make, the better.

Thankfully I had a chance to review some amazing organic sheets from Magnolia Organics because did you know that many cotton sheets are treated with formaldehyde to produce less wrinkles? Ick. Really? I'll take the chemical free wrinkles over formaldehyde any day thank you very much.

"Formaldehyde is a cancer-causing chemical that, unfortunately, is found in many common household items like furniture, particle board (which is actually used in the construction of your house), paints, and carpet. It would be hard to completely avoid exposure to formaldehyde, but about 1/3 of your life is spent sleeping, so by avoiding breathing formaldehyde fumes while you sleep...[you] could greatly reduce your overall exposure."

What I Reviewed

I reviewed a set of Queen Size white sheets from Magnolia's Dream Collection. These sheet sets retail for $64.99 and come with a fitted and top sheet, as well as two pillowcases. I absolutely love these sheets because they softer than any other sheets I've used, they're organic and they are durable. (We have used ours for approximately 4 months now.) I love the feeling I get when I crawl into these sheets at night. They are definitely an invitation to "sleep well"...and I do.

These sheets are certified 100% organic and have a 300 thread count. The "dyes that are used are all low-impact, with no harmful chemicals" and have received certification from the Global Organic Textiles Standards. source

When you receive these sheets, you will most likely be impressed with how they come packaged.  The outer "plastic" bag is recyclable and the sheets and pillowcases were then inside a reusable bag that matches the same material as the sheets. (This was the same case when I ordered our duvet.) I have even used my reusable bags while shopping at Whole Foods and I get .10 off my order per bag.

I requested to review the white sheets because my eye caught this scrumptious duvet and our comforter was in desperate need of replacement.

I thought there were white sheets paired with the duvet, but once I received the duvet, I realized that it was more of a cream color. If I had thought to ask about that before I reviewed the white sheets, I would have reviewed the French Vanilla instead from the Dream Collection. So, keep that in mind if you want to order this duvet. Right now it is only available on Amazon and for $60, it's a great deal on a very heavy duty organic duvet.

The only thing I wish I could change about this duvet is that I wish there was a better way to secure the comforter on the inside. Right now I'm having the issue of the comforter moving around inside the duvet because there isn't a way to secure it. Once I can actually replace the comforter I think I will have to sew some ties or snaps on the inside to hold the comforter in place. But the fact that I got it at such a great deal and that I love the pattern makes up for it.

Magnolia Organics has a somewhat limited selection at this point, but they do offer Organic Bedding for your baby (including sheets for pack n plays which I think are reasonably priced at $11.99 each), pillowcasesduvets, barrier cloths, blankets and towels (GREAT price on these!)

I am very happy with both the products I reviewed and purchased from Magnolia Organics. You definitely need to check this company out for your organic bedding needs.
