Recently we took a field trip for school to my dad's machine shop to follow up our book reading about engines and machines. There couldn't be a better place to go when it comes to learning about machines and engines that's for sure!
Someone's excited about the field trip!
Here are some of the fun things the kids got to do:
Learning about pulleys and their effects on this big saw
Using a drill press to drill a hole into plastic
Carter and my Dad
Looking at a real car engine
Learning about the parts of a motorcycle
Sitting in the fork lift
Learning about saws
Feeling the weight difference between steel and aluminum.
Do you know which weighs more? Steel, by far!
Caleb checking out the steel
Using the "man soap" to wash up after getting dirty
Someone doesn't like the "man soap"...
To end the time there, Caleb snuggled up with Grandpa and had him read a book while Grandma showed the other two kids how a typewriter works (this was to follow up our reading from The Big Green Pocketbook).

Thanks Mom and Dad (and Grandma and Grandpa) for the great field trip!
P.S. Happy Birthday to my wonderful Dad! Love you!!!
