31 Days to a Stronger Marriage: Embracing Wisdom

This year I accepted the personal challenge to write 31 days in a row about a particular area of interest in my life. I find it best to write about something that is already personal to me, so it was natural to turn my study from Proverbs about being a better wife into a 31 day series.
I hope you'll join me over the next 31 days as I share what God has taught me from His Word. None of these posts are written as if I was the authority on marriage.  In fact, they were written in the midst of my own brokenness as I was confronted with my need to grow in my role as a wife.
It was a painful realization, but one that, by God's grace, has brought about change and growth in my life.

I loved my study of Proverbs, which conveniently, has 31 chapters to go along with the 31 Day challenge. God's Word is completely equipped with the power to change us and the wisdom for how to bring that change about.

I saw it first hand in my own marriage.
Do you want to see God strengthen your marriage? Then please join me over the next 31 days. I would love for you to read along each day here at the blog, but I also challenge you to read the corresponding chapter in Proverbs. Each daily devotional will be based on that particular chapter in Proverbs.

I'm excited to hear about the work that God does in each of our lives over the next month.

Day One: Proverbs 1

While I didn't find anything in chapter 1 that dealt specifically with being a better wife, I did find the author's description of what the book is about and his plea for the reader to acquire wisdom. Day 1 will simply be sharing what Solomon, the penman for the book of Proverbs, tells us what wisdom is. You will find throughout the book of Proverbs that wisdom is life-saving. Wisdom is crucial. Wisdom is God-given and wisdom is personal.

Wisdom is the guard rail of our life that keeps us going in the direction God is calling us.

"The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings. Through these proverbs, people will receive instruction in discipline, good conduct, and doing what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will make the simple-minded clever. They will give knowledge and purpose to young people.

Let those who are wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. And let those who understand receive guidance by exploring the depth of meaning in these proverbs, parables, wise sayings, and riddles."

Over the next 31 days, I hope that we will be wise women who readsand obey God's Word. I'm excited to share my journey with you. See you tomorrow!

I love the idea of applying Proverbs to your marriage. In a study I am doing, we keep linking back to wisdom. Loved that quote about wisdom being a guardrail... I sure need one sometimes!!! I'll definitely be checking in on this series as the month continues! said...

Thanks! The Lord led me to that chapter one day when I realized I needed to give my marriage the priority it deserved. As I worked through the book, I learned some incredible things! Glad you'll be following along in the series as well. :)
