Stronger Marriage: Learning to Be a Wife With No Regrets

As I crack open my devotional notebook to work on my Proverbs 12 post, I am, once again, in awe of the practical marriage advice found in God's Word.

If I want to be a wife with no regrets, I will continue to meditate on and apply these truths for the rest of my life. No regrets doesn't mean I will always respond perfectly in my role as a wife. No regrets means I know I gave each day my best efforts towards my marriage and I leave the results up to God.

Here is what I came away with from Proverbs 12:

I want to be a worthy wife who is my husband's joy and crown because a shameful wife will drain him (verse 4)

I want to have wisdom in the words that I say so they will give healing to my husband's soul (verse 18)

I need to plan for peace in my home and then I will have a joy-filled heart (verse 20)

I need to cheer my husband up with an encouraging word (verse 25)

I am praying that I will be a good steward with our resources by making good use of everything I find (verse 27)

What verses did God show you from His Word today? I have a devotional notebook where I make a note of the verses that apply to my marriage. Under each date, I write the reference of the verse and then write it in my own words using my husband's name where applicable. It looks like this:

12:18 May I have wisdom in the words that I say so they will give healing to Adam's soul

Doing this has made it easy to look back on those truths on a regular basis so that I can continue to meditate on them. By meditating on them, it is much easier to bring those truths back to my mind when I need it.

Join me tomorrow as we study Proverbs chapter 13. Just getting started on the series? Catch up with all the posts on my landing page between now and October 31.

Great series. After 25 years of marriage, I know I still need to improve.
