We Choose Virtues Review and Giveaway

Do you ever find yourself thinking "If only someone else could try to talk some sense into this child of mine, it would be really helpful!"? I know I do!  As children get older, I know it can get very frustrating trying to figure out the best way to get through to their heart so that they will change (not just the behavior, but the heart that is producing that behavior).

My husband and I desire to raise our children to have hearts for the Lord. We pray that they will truly love Him and that their love for Him will permeate every aspect of their life. It takes time and effort to sit down with your child and instruct them from the Scripture regarding the choices they make. Perhaps you get frustrated because you're not sure where to even look in Scripture. I'm certainly no expert on this and sadly, I don't do it as often as I should, but I do know that God has been faithful during those times to direct me to a passage or verse that would be appropriate for the situation.

God desires to help my child and me change so when I humble myself and come to Him, He gives me grace. Time and again I have noticed that as my oldest son and I start discussing an issue, God helps me to explain the Scripture passage in an applicable way. I'm always thankful for His help!
If I want true and lasting change to take place in my childrens' hearts I must use God's Word. If I don't, I might just raise a few Pharisees (people who look good on the outside but are corrupt on the inside) around here.
During times when I am frustrated with a child's behavior and I might think, "If only I had someone else that could talk to this difficult child" I need to remember that I do! I have God's Word. It is powerful and can change even the hardest of hearts. God tells us in Isaiah 55:10-11 NLT,
"The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it."
Although I don't know how my children will turn out, my responsibility is to trust God that His Word will accomplish what He intends it to in their lives. I must also be faithful in regularly presenting the Word to my children.

I don't know about you, but my radar is always up for ways to easily encourage our children biblically in a positive way. It's easy to fall into the rut of only instructing them in the ways of the Lord when I'm disciplining them and that's not good.
When I came across a site called "We Choose Virtues", it sounded intriguing to me. After contacting the founder of the company, Heather graciously offered me a couple of her products in exchange for a review.

We are currently using the The Kids Virtue Poster (on sale for $14.99) and The Teacher's Virtue Cards for families. I like both products! We keep the poster on our fridge as a handy reminder of what should be coming out of our lives if we follow Christ.  It is a handy resource that I can direct our children to when one of them is struggling. It's also a great reminder for me when I'm struggling to be Christ-like. :)

I use The Teacher's Virtue Cards for families each morning at breakfast with our children. My oldest reads the front of the card to everyone.

I then read the back of the card to my children and we do the discussion questions. It only takes a few minutes each morning but it's an opportunity to present truth from God's Word in a positive way to them.

We Choose Virtues has many other products available for either home or school use. Check them out! I think you would really like to have something like this in your home and Heather is graciously one reader an opportunity to win the two products I tried for free with a giveaway.

Heather is also offering a 15% discount on your entire shopping cart (and there is no expiration date at this time!) Simply use Promo Code "Virtue15".

These seems easy to read. On their site, I like the virtue flashcards to be used in a faith-based classroom setting. It would help with our Weds. night program for K-2!
