"A nagging wife is as annoying as the constant dripping on a rainy day. Trying to stop her complaints is like trying to stop the wind or hold something with greased hands." Proverbs 27:15-16
There's nothing like an incredible word picture to drive a point home.
These verses are a sober reminder of the depths of irritation one can cause when not walking with Jesus. A nagging wife is heart breaking because, not only is she miserable inside, everyone around her is miserable as well.
I have to wonder what is going on in her heart that makes her feel like she has to continually find fault in her husband and to be an incessant complainer. Why is she lacking joy? Why is she bitter and faultfinding? Why is she unsettled and not at rest?
Honestly, my heart goes out to a woman like this because while those around her surely are miserable, they can't be as miserable as the broken woman inside.
How can we be transformed from a faultfinding, irritable, never-happy wife to one who is kind, peaceful, godly and loving?
By having a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ.
It's not enough to say that we know who He is. We must ask ourselves if we have a relationship with Him.
"I write this to you who believe in the son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life." I John 5:13
"Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is born of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God--for God is love...since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love has been brought to full expression through us." I John 4:7-8, 11-12
We don't have to live a life chained to our habits and patterns of nagging and complaining. We can be made new in Christ. I urge you to read God's Word so your life will be glorifying to Him.

This is a great post! I admit I struggle w/ nagging my fiance, and its not something I want to bring into my marriage. It's so great that the Bible addresses this so specifically!
I'm glad the Bible does, too. :)
